Our Services
Hydrotherapy
Flex Allied Health offers aquatic therapy sessions delivered by qualified physiotherapists and allied health clinicians. Our hydrotherapy programme runs at a heated pool facility, giving people of all ages access to therapeutic water-based exercise without the wait lists of a hospital setting. Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or supporting a child with a developmental need, the water is often where the real progress happens.
What is Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy (also known as aquatic therapy) uses the unique properties of water — including buoyancy, warmth, and resistance — to facilitate therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. It is particularly effective for individuals who find land-based exercise difficult due to pain, disability, or physical limitations.
At Flex Allied Health, our aquatic therapy sessions are designed and supervised by qualified physiotherapists, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based treatment for every participant.
Hydrotherapy is suitable for children and adults alike, with strong evidence for its benefits in neurological, musculoskeletal, and paediatric conditions.
Liverpool's Largest Paediatric Gym
Our state-of-the-art facility includes access to a temperature-controlled hydrotherapy pool and specialised paediatric gym equipment, designed to make therapy engaging and effective for children of all abilities.
Benefits of Hydrotherapy
Water-based therapy offers unique therapeutic advantages that complement and enhance traditional land-based physiotherapy.
Buoyancy Support
Water reduces the effects of gravity, making movement easier and reducing stress on joints and muscles.
Warm Water Therapy
Heated pool water relaxes muscles, improves circulation, and reduces pain — ideal for chronic conditions.
Resistance Training
Water provides natural resistance, enabling strength and functional training with lower injury risk.
Sensory Benefits
The aquatic environment provides rich sensory input, particularly beneficial for children with ASD and sensory processing needs.
Improved Mobility
Hydrotherapy facilitates a greater range of motion and flexibility than land-based therapy for many conditions.
Enjoyable & Engaging
Especially for children, the pool environment makes therapy feel fun and motivating, supporting better engagement.
